Malliotakis Endorsed by Transport Workers Union – TWU

A strong and effective ally for Transport Workers in Congress

Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11, Staten Island-Southern Brooklyn) received the endorsement of the Transport Workers Union of America (TWU), AFL-CIO, which represents more than 165,000 members nationwide, including 40,000 workers at the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA).

In his letter of endorsement, TWU International President John Samuelsen wrote,

“We have worked closely with you on transit, rail and air issues over the course of your term. On every issue our members care deeply about, you have taken the time to understand our concerns and ensure working people are the top priority of our government. TWU members need representatives like you in Washington, DC.

“The TWU appreciates your loyalty to our members and strongly endorses your campaign.”

Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis said, “I’d like to thank all members of the TWU and President Samuelsen for their strong endorsement and kind words. Whether it’s their Air, Rail, or Transit Divisions, the TWU is the union that moves America. In New York City we rely on TWU members to keep our buses, subways and commuter trains running as they serve millions of commuters every day. Often working under difficult conditions, they move the workers that power the economic engine that is New York City.

“A good transportation network, whether on water, roadways, or rail, is crucial to keeping New York City competitive in the 21st Century. That’s why I fought hard to secure $27 billion in infrastructure funding for our city, including $9.8 billion dedicated to upgrading public transportation like our subway system.

“I thank TWU members for their dedication to our city and for their support of my campaign for re-election.”
