Nicole for New York, the campaign of Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11, Staten Island-Southwestern Brooklyn}, announced today that the Humane Society Legislative Fund has endorsed her in her bid for a third term. The Humane Society Legislative Fund (HSLF) is the nation’s leading animal protection organization.

Sara Amundson, president of the Humane Society Legislative Fund said, “Nicole Malliotakis is fighting to pass legislation to crack down on animal abuse and to stand up for all of our nation’s animals. New Yorkers should re-elect this humane champion to Congress.”

Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis said, “I’d like to thank the HSLF for their kind endorsement and for the work they do to ensure the well-being of our nation’s animals. Through-out my career in the state legislature and now the U.S. Congress, I have always fought to protect animals through necessary legislation and by personal action on the streets of the 11th Congressional District. As the owner of Luna, a rescue dog adopted through PLUTO Rescue, I understand the responsibility we have to make sure that all animals have the opportunity to live in humane conditions.”

In the 118th Congress, Rep. Malliotakis serves as co-chair of the Congressional Animal Protection Caucus, which works to promote animal protection initiatives to other members of Congress, and she earned an impressive score of 100% on HSLF’s 2023 Humane Scorecard.

Malliotakis is sponsoring nearly two dozen pieces of legislation to strengthen federal enforcement against wildlife trafficking and poaching, end the shark fin trade, and stop all unnecessary and inhumane animal testing on dogs and cats after successfully working with colleagues to stop multiple experiments.

In addition, Rep. Malliotakis is the prime sponsor of Goldie’s Act, legislation she developed with ASPCA which would require the U.S. Department of Agriculture to work with local law enforcement to remove neglected animals from abusive situations primarily in puppy mills and breeding facilities.

The Humane Society Legislative Fund was formed in 2004 as a separate lobbying affiliate of The Humane Society of the United States. HSLF works to pass animal protection laws at the state and federal levels, to educate the public about animal protection issues, and to support humane candidates for office.
