Mallitotakis to de Blasio: Don’t Sign Budget!

Put Taxpayers before $$ for Deportation Defense for Illegal Immigrant Felons

Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis, the real Republican in the race for Mayor, today called on Mayor de Balsio “to show some backbone and stand-up to Speaker Viverito and the City Council” on the allocation of taxpayer money to defend violent felons who are illegal immigrants from deportation.

Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis said, “Mayor de Blasio has repeatedly displayed a complete lack of leadership when it comes to protecting the taxpayers of our city. It’s plain to see, that the mayor is unwilling or simply doesn’t have the fortitude to stand up to City Council Speaker Viverito and in the end it’s the hardworking, taxpaying citizens of who suffer.

“It is unacceptable that he plans to sign a budget that provides millions to pay for the legal defense of murderers, rapists and other felons slated for deportation. Meanwhile we have a subway system in need of desperate upgrades, outdated traffic lights creating congestion and fellow New Yorkers sleeping on the streets.

“Today, I call on Mayor de Blasio to show some backbone and stand-up to Speaker Viverito and the City Council and refuse to sign any budget that includes such outrageous spending. City Hall shouldn’t be spending taxpayer money in any form to protect convicted felons from deportation, allowing them to continue to prey on other immigrants and citizens. If the mayor can’t understand that, we will elect a new mayor who will.
